Hey comic book fans and art loyalist.
I've been hard at work trying to get some things in my life settled as soon as possible.
As such, my appearence at Baltimore comic con and New York comic con are in serious question. I hope to make it. But if not theres always next year. I haven't made too many more videos. I've shot 2 or 3, but times have been trying. I've decided to give my goal of making a comfortable living from comics and art another year, maybe two. In two years I'll be 35, with a 4 and 5 year old to take care of. If it hasn't become comfortable by then I'll suck it up and work wherever the pay is good and draw for my own enjoyment.

I don't have much to upload. Part of my plan to make this work is actually to create more which could just as easily make things harder. Hopefully its appreciated in the end. For those looking for Captain kacela 4, don't worry it's still in the works. In the meantime I'll be uploading Captain kacela issue one page by page. As well as anything else i think might be interesting from the archives. I'm hoping to plan the launch of the next two titles better then the luanch of Captain Kacela. I basically just showed up one year at NYC with books. Sold well, but being on a consistent con schedule was a struggle. In the 5 years since her debut and 6 years since inception, I've only been to NYC con 2 times. Once on the titles debut and again last year through personal turmoil. If I can make it, this will be the third, in arguably the best market for her.

Here are the first 3 pages plus the cover and inside front cover of Kacela issue1. Scroll down

From around the net!

So every once in a while I google Captain kacela, the current project I'm working on and finishing up. Just like some people google themselves to see what comes up. Last time I found some interesting results including a mention on CBR (comic book resources) during black history month. Here are some of them. There are lots of intersting articles I've participated in and people talking about the book and character, these are just new to me. check out http://www.sugarcayne.com/
he has done a few interviews with me and also some great artist at a bunch of cons, as well as his passion bmx, which I think is an olympic sport now, and other great stuff.

Yo How is everyone! Did we all enjoy NYC Special Edition?
Today was the first day of Wizard World Philly! I was there, a little late, better late then never though. I'll be joined by my lovely apprentice Carmelita White aka Pem. "Pem" is short for "Pempamsie"(Pim-pam-see-ah) it means to be prepared,  symbol of valor and fearlessness so she always gets put out there and she always rises to the occasion.

I just wanted to tell people to stop by Wizard World Philly tomorrow and see me table F-15 also check out the black and whites color version available tomorrow and Friday. It's kinda late, I'm still coloring so forgive the rambling

Cheers to ECBACC

Hey good people.
So ECBACC (East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention) was awesome. Special Thanks to Carmalita White aka "Pem" My apprentice who took care of business Saturday. Thanks to Yumy Odom and Akinseye Brown who make ECBACC possible and to all those who stopped by the table either to say hi, or buy or who supported in other ways.

I always fall off right after conventions. The energy at conventions is always electric and right after normal life is such a slow down. The every day life I have to work with often causes me to miss the great connections I make at cons. So from now own the day after conventions for me is called "Build Day"  so I can make sure I keep these connections and that electric feeling going.
Thanks toTiana Mone Scott for the awesome squirtile box my son keeps playing with.
thanks to Artist Sheeba Maya amazingly talented.
Thanks to Ariell Johnson much success to her and her awesome idea.
Great times with Kimberly Moseberry. My good table mate Zuwena Mshale another good table mate.
Congrats on a good job done by Jerry Craft, Jihan and all the stars participants.
Congrats to Steven Harris and all the Glyph winners and participants.

Not sure if I can get it online by today, but there is a special treat for all those who signed their email address. Thanks again For all the love. For those who inquired here is a link to the list of comic conventions I used to plan my year. ECBACC and Onyx con may not be on the list but those cons I plan special. Comic convention scene

How goes it.
That good huh. Well it's been sometime since the last post. I've also fallen off on creating new content for the online comics. The truth is  I've been hustling to get things together for this convention season. So far I've only done C2E2. The tables are booked for wizard world philly, Wizard World Chicago ECBACC and New York special edition. I'll post the actual table numbers as soon as possible. Most of my conventions this year will be shared tables and most of those with Kimberly Moseberry and Joe Currie. My table mate in past years was my wife. Shes decided to call it quits after 6 years... the marriage I mean. She actually wants to share some tables. In an effort to bring down my cost I'm sharing ECBACC with her.  In Philly at wizard world I will probably be competing with her not directly. I don't see the two of us sharing many resources and so it's every sale for your self.

Sales are up but its still a struggle. I am working towards this thing I do, being THE thing I do.  Any help I can get is appreciated, I can't thank people enough. All those who count themselves fans thank you for your support.

Back again. Sometimes I take some time off mostly because life offline has become so dense with work struggle and triumph that I can't keep up with the online world.  When that does happen though believe that you will still see me and my art on some of my other social media outlets.
@kamau215 twitter
kamau215 on istagram
kamau mshale on facebook

and now look up the art of Kamau Mshale also on facebook. going to try to use it as a repository gallery for lots of work I've done so far.

with that said here are some things I've been working on. Also I'm trying to update my ability to video blog. so expect more of them.

Oldies but goodies

So part two of the blog post today. Some art.

Goliath of Disney's Gargoyles. Birthday gift for a friend.

Secondly let me introduce those that don't know to Earthguard. Created by the original founders of Arson Entertainment, these were our flashship characters for a long time. They only made it to two issues. The art was the best part as I wrote the story because the co-creator/writer was unavailable. I still love them and we were in talks to try to redo the book. but it probably won't be the same. Not sure what will happen to them.

From top to bottom Kyle/Maelstrom
Ishmiel/Syphon
Miana/Lady Bitch
Kim/Halo
don't ask me about the names. I think only one actually makes any sense.

Was once the best pic in my collection right around when Capcom vs. SNK2 hit and when I got Mark of the Wolves on emulator for my pc.

If I ever find the files I'll post the books.

Talent eh?

So this will be a double post because I plan on posting some art later on(closer to midnight like normal) But I needed to make a mention of something I think is crazy. It's not easy for an artist to make good money. Sometimes even as we gain critical acclaim or admiration among our peers we still lack the respect of the general public and find it hard to nail down a job in art.

I often here "If I had your skills..." ; the rest of the the sentence explaining why I shouldn't be without money ever with the skill that I have. It's not that easy though or else I would have lots of money. I wanted to post the current struggle of a friend of mind because of this.

He's currently in a contest on a site called talent house. While art contest can be loaded, considering art is so subjective and it's basically opinions that are used to judge, sometimes it's more about what you your self look like. I'm not hating on serious female artist. I've seen lots though who are mediocre and not improving and making sales because well they look nice.

I think my friend shawn is currently a victim of this. Check out his talent house link. vote if you agree. there are some other good entries.

just to summerize here is his entry (currently in 5th)

and here is the current number one.

You be the  judge
